Description
Our condo, #1063 , is a large, luxurious, air-conditioned studio condo located in Tower 2 at The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii. The view is spectacular! From our lanai (porch), as you look to the right you see the island of Lanai, the Pacific Ocean and Kaanapali Beach. To the left you see the majestic West Maui Mountains, and in the distance straight ahead at night you see the lights of Lahaina, Maui's 19th century whaling port. From the end of October until late spring you can enjoy watching the whales while sitting on the lanai.
On the private, azure tiled lanai is a chaise lounge where you can stretch out and enjoy reading a new book. There is also a glass-topped table and two chairs where guests can eat their meals or sip a cool drink. What a perfect place to enjoy the tropics!
The kitchen equipment includes a blender, mixer, can opener, coffeemaker, toaster, refrigerator with icemaker, microwave, dishwasher, stove and oven. Inside the kitchen cabinets are matching dishes, silverware, glasses, etc.; all that one has in their own home kitchen.
A bar with two barstools separates the kitchen and dining area. Here guests can eat those quick meals before taking a walk on the beach. In the dining area is a round table with 4 chairs where guests can eat a more leisurely or formal meal. Along a wall nearby is an etagere displaying crafts by Maui artists on the upper shelves and books for guests to read on the lower shelves.
A comfortable sofa is between matching end tables with lamps that provide light for reading at night. Large picture books are on the coffee table that sits in front of the sofa. A special entertainment unit holds a 27-inch color TV and VCR/DVD combination with digital cable access to 70 channels. In the storage area below this unit are Maui travel and information books and a small library of movies on VCR and DVD for you to enjoy. A large bucket-seat chair with cushion is fun to sit in while watching a favorite TV show. Condominium #1063 has a king-size bed (not a Murphy bed) and bolsters at the head. A bright-colored, custom-made bedspread covers the bed. On the wall behind the bed are glass mirrors, which reach from floor to ceiling. Reading lights are on either side of the bed for those guests who like to read in bed. A table on one side of the bed has a Bose clock radio-CD player combination (we have a variety of CD's available for guests to enjoy and encourage guests to bring their favorite CD's from home); on the other side a small chest has a drawer for storage. Built in drawers in the closet provide guests with more storage space. A ceiling fan hangs in the middle of the main room to help the cool tropical breezes flow inside. Recently a new central air conditioning system was installed and can be used when these breezes get too hot.
Owners, Bill and Rosellyn Rudolph, have used the unique colors found in the tropics and on Maui to highlight their condominium. From the teak floor in the entryway to the lanai, there is a feel of sunshine and fun throughout. The mountainside wall is mirrored from ceiling to floor and from the lanai to the bar. This provides views of the ocean and Lanai Island for guests to enjoy when they are indoors. Grass cloth wallpaper covers the remaining walls in the main room. All other walls in the bath area and kitchen are also wallpapered. Two framed pieces of tapa cloth and two framed posters from the annual Lahaina Art Contest hang in the living room and kitchen. A map of the Sandwich Isles (early Hawaii) is hanging in the entrance hall.
Marble has been used on the bathroom counter and surrounding walls of the bath/shower area. Storage space for towels and supplies is under the bathroom cabinet. A hair dryer and all linens and towels are provided for our guests. Guests in #1063 can get beach towels at no charge from "The Hut" located at the far end of The Whaler's swimming pool. In the walk-in closet there is space for hanging clothes and luggage storage; additional shelves for shoes and other personal items; and an iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner for guests to use.
#1063 is specially wired for guests to be able to use their laptop computers for e-mail and connection to the Internet. We have, free wireless and ethernet highspeed internet service . Voice mail is also available. The condominium has two phone lines each with a different phone number allowing an incoming call to be answered while talking on the other line. The Whaler has an outdoor heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, deck with chaise lounges, garden with walkways and pool.
