Welcome to the Kawela Crown Jewel. This is Hawaii as many people dream of being right on the beautiful, secluded sandy beach. Imagine sitting out at night or swaying back and forth in the hammock gazing at millions of stars, or during the day while taking in the panoramic oceanview and istening to the gentle sounds of the lapping waves, ahhh!!! giving the finishing touch to your holiday.
Kawela Crown Jewel is located at Kawela Bay, being the only home in Kawela Bay that is located right on the sand at the ocean's edge. A slice of Hawaii from long ago - yet with all of the modern amenities. Our home was built in 1910, the oldest home on the famous North Shore; It was originally built by the owner of the local sugar mill as a retreat for the plantation supervisors and special guests.... this is not your typical beach vacation rental.
The property consists of two homes. It is perfect for several families to share, as it will sleep up to 10 adults, 6 children, and 2 babies. Perfect for a family reunion or small wedding! The original cottage is as quaint as you could ever wish for. When we moved here, I told the realtor that I wanted something that represented "Old Hawaii". When he showed us this home, I knew it was the one. This home had been in the previous owner's family for years and years, and will be in our family for generations. It is the kind of home that is a treasure, and we feel blessed each morning when we watch the sun rise from our bedroom windows.
The main cottage has one bedroom with a queen bed and another daybed in the sunroom. The dining table seats 8 easily and we've pulled up chairs for many more. The kitchen is charming and warm. This is not a modern "state of the art" fancy, modern set up. It is for those families who wish to live from the heart. The living room was recently redecorated with new sofas, chairs and a new tv with DVD player and stereo.
About 30 feet from the orignial house is our newly remodeled cottage. This was built for our children and grandchildren when they come to visit and home contains my studio. The cottage has 5 bedrooms, 3 baths and a nursery. Two of the bedrooms have new bunkbeds. The studio part of the cottage is furnished with a sofa, chairs, an armoire set-up with a tv and stereo, and a small refrigerator and microwave.
Kawela Bay is a private gated community. The North Shore is considered "country" and on your drive to our home, you will pass black and white cows and many sheep. When you enter the gate, at Kawela Bay, you will turn down a country dirt road and you will begin to feel like you have stepped back in time. Like you are coming home.
We have a kitty that will greet you each morning with a loud meow. :) We also have two golden retrievers that can stay with you, to add to your feeling of "coming home" or we can board them with friends.
Kawela Bay is as perfect a bay as you would ever wish for! It is 1/2 a mile long, in a beautiful crescent shape. The bay is safe for swimming, year around ( even during the large surf in the winter time ) as it is protected by a reef. You can kayak on the waves that break on that reef, or just float on the kayaks or rafts, and commune with the sea turtles that call our bay their home. We have a fabulous forest of banyan trees just down the beach that offers a beautiful 1 mile walk to the Turtle Bay Resort, should you wish to have breakfast, lunch or dinner there...or play golf on their famous golf course.
You will find that the outside world just disappears, when you are here, and only beauty and harmony exist. We feel that it is a rare opportunity and a privilege to call this place our home, and we are willing to share this piece of paradise. Rates
The rates are for 10 people, for the low season add $25 per night per person over 10 up to 16 guests. The Christmas season add $50 per night per person over 10 up to 16 guests.
